Webhooks in KO: for a website, backend or CRM that is not in the catalog

A custom-built website, an in-house CRM, a back-office script: there is no ready integration for them. For these cases, there is a webhook. Your code sends a lead to the KO address. KO links the lead to the visit and the campaign, like a request from a regular form.

Webhooks KO

What KO takes

  • The contact: name, phone, email and messenger handles
  • Form fields and any values of your own
  • The source: the visit ID from the KO tracking cookie, or the tags and page address
  • The channel of the request: website, chat, call, messenger and others

What KO sends back

  • A reply to each request: lead and contact IDs, and whether the contact is new or already known
  • The deal ID in your CRM, if the lead went on to a connected CRM
  • The lead stage and deal amount, when your code asks for them by lead ID

Where data gets lost and how KO notices it

A lead came without a visit or tags

The source of a lead is the visit it came from. The visit ID is in the KO tracking cookie. If your code sends neither the ID nor UTM tags, the lead goes into the share with no source.

The contact is already in KO

KO does not create the same contact twice. The reply returns the ID of the known contact and marks it as a duplicate. This is normal, not an error.

The channel has its own name

KO understands a channel only if it is on the KO list. If the value is not on the list, the request still goes through. But the lead goes to an unknown channel.

Requests stopped coming

The integration settings show the latest requests. If requests stop coming while other data keeps coming, a card appears in What to do now.

FAQ

Common questions

A ready integration takes data from the service itself. A webhook works the other way: your code sends the lead to KO. So it fits anything that can send a request.

Yes. In test mode the webhook returns a reply of the same shape but creates nothing.

No. Your code asks for the stage itself, by lead IDs, up to 100 IDs at a time. You turn on access to the stage and the deal amount in the integration settings.
